[englisch/amerikanisch, 'teknəʊ'traɪbl], Spielart des New Age, die die ältesten Formen noch existierender Stammesmusik (tribal = »Stamm«) mit den technisch fortgeschrittensten elektronischen Instrumenten zu verbinden sucht, mithin eine spezifische Variante der Ethnic Fusion genannten New-Age-Mixtur. Grundlage sind zumeist rhythmische und klangliche Anleihen aus den Musikkulturen der Ureinwohner Australiens sowie Nord- und Südamerikas. Als typische Vertreter gelten der vor allem durch seine Zusammenarbeit mit Brian Eno und Laurie Anderson bekannt gewordene Schlagzeuger David Van Tieghem (* 1955), die Synthesizer- und Performance-Artistin Gabrielle Roth (* 1953), der Trompeter Jon Hassell (* 1937), der Gitarrist Michael Brook (* 1951), der Synthesizerspezialist Robert Rich (* 1956) und der Vokalist Steve Roach (* 1948).
